During the last 12 months at our practice there has been a buzz of activity behind the scenes as the team at Dr Lipshatz have been working on a major project.
Although it is not compulsory, Dr Lipshatz decided to undergo the accreditation process for his Practice and in so doing, be at the forefront of Orthodontists in Victoria.
Accreditation prompted by the Australian Dental Association, is independent recognition that a practice meets defined criteria and standards. It is an internationally recognised evaluation process used to assess the quality of care and services provided in a practice. An independent agency awards accreditation to practices that submit all the required evidence and demonstrate compliance with the National Safety and Quality in Health Service Standards.
There is an enormous amount of effort and time required in successfully undertaking the process, but Dr Lipshatz decided to take up the challenge so that his practice would benefit by
- Enhancement of quality of care
- Increased efficiency of sterilisation
- Benchmarking safety and Quality
- Regulating all systems in the practice.
Dr Lipshatz chose Stephanie, a talented, diligent and committed team member to manage the task and she has done an outstanding job. It has been a very challenging process as there are hundreds of hours of writing, reading, drafting, and making sure each staff member does their “ homework” which is comprehensive and time consuming.
Every thing that happens in the practice – from staff immunisations to patient privacy contracts are included in the review and every task and system are carefully evaluated.
One significant benefit that Stephanie reports to have resulted from going through the process is the purchase of a new state of the art autoclave that has greatly increased efficiency.
It is also gratifying for all the team to know that they are working in an environment where every little detail has been thought about and is done correctly and according to top standards.
That’s not to say that it wasn’t a tedious and challenging process, but Stephanie motivated the team and her fastidious nature and determination ensured that our first submission was successful. (Quite a feat!)
Our patients know that we are friendly and caring and create beautiful smiles. Now they can also be confident that all systems and procedures in our practice have been independently evaluated and are top notch!
We have undergone this extensive program, even though it is not mandatory because we are committed to providing the best service in every possible way.
Dr Lipshatz thanks Stephanie for her outstanding efforts and leadership, and all the staff for their assistance, valued input and cooperation through a long, detailed journey.
Stephanie reflects that it has been a very long year – but feels a great sense of accomplishment.
Look out for our Accreditation Certificate and next time you are in give Stephanie a big pat on the back!!
